What this gives you: you set one number per item, and every shop price follows from it. No more editing prices shop by shop.
The shop price is never stored. It is worked out fresh from three numbers:
price = cost × markup × marketFactor
| Number | What it means | Who changes it |
|---|---|---|
cost | What the item is worth to you | You |
markup | How much the shop adds on top | You |
marketFactor | How the server has nudged it | The market, on its own |
So an item with a cost of 10,000 and a markup of 2.0 sells for 20,000 — unless the market has moved it, which it can do by up to 20% either way.
This is the shop price — what an NPC store charges. It has nothing to do with what players charge each other.
